Call For Art Submissions

art winnerYCM is holding a competition to select two original works of art to be used as achievement awards for the 2019 Yukon Geoscience Forum. Winning submissions will be selected by a jury of professional artists and industry representatives, and must be completed and delivered to YCM by September 9th, 2019. At that time, the work will become the property of the Yukon Chamber of Mines.

Work may be in any visual media (e.g. pencil or pen & ink, painting, textile, sculpture, carving, photography,etc.) and should reflect a theme of mining & exploration, minerals, or northern subject matter. Artists may submit a maximum of three pieces for consideration. No more than one submission per artist will be selected to win. Preference will be given to Yukon artists.

The artists of the chosen works will receive an artist’s fee of up to  $1,500. Images of the artwork will be featured with an artist’s credit on our website and in next year’s Mining and Exploration Directory.

Member Award Nominations

At this year’s Yukon Geoscience Forum, the Yukon Chamber of Mines will honour a YCM member (either an individual or a corporation) who has undertaken mineral exploration or development activities in the Yukon within the last 12 months, and who has exemplified modern development practices by contributing toward the development of healthier communities, protecting the natural environment, and helping to develop a vibrant economy for present and future generations.

At this Year’s Geoscience Forum, the Yukon Chamber of Mines will honour a contribution made by an individual, corporation, or government department (federal, First Nation, territorial, or municipal) to the advancement of a sustainable and responsible Yukon mining industry.
